Eyebrows
raised as students of Snyder-Phillips Hall discovered the fire alarm went off
for a very good reason.
The
alarm sounded shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday evening after a steam pipe burst
on the terrace level of Phillips Hall according to third floor Resident
Assistant Kalieha Stapleton.
Several
students filed outside assuming that it was a routine fire drill only to
discover the opposite once an East Lansing fire truck arrived on the scene,
according to MSU Psychology major, Hadley Kleinschmidt
About
30 minutes later, students were allowed back into the building, but the
cafeteria was off limits until 6 p.m. according to Hadley Kleinschmidt.
An
anonymous source says that The Gallery was closed temporarily so that kitchen
workers could take the time to dispose of any remaining food that students left
on the tables when the alarm sounded.
No one was
injured.
